At 0600, it’s 66, an hour out of Martha’s Vineyard, headed for Block Island; due at noon. There is a gentle roll and fog. Last night’s ambulance was explained as a passenger fell, but was OK. I went down for the American Experience (Sales Pitch) and was handed our invoice for our August, 2022 Grand New England Tour. It’s a 10-day cruise, but, whereas it’s our 11th, we’re only paying for 3 days. We put down the deposit and insurance. We arrived at Block island at 1110. About 50 minutes ahead of schedule. Lunch was A Connecticut Lobster Roll on a buttered New England style bun, with potato salad and a pickle spear for Lyd, and a Grilled Beef Burger with cheddar cheese, roasted garlic mayo, kettle chips and a pickle spear for Tom. Cody brought out glasses of Merlot and Riesling without being asked. Tom finished with a NY cheesecake with blueberry compote. We elected not to go ashore and had a pleasant afternoon in the room. Cocktails, again, at 1730 preceded dinner and we ate with our normal other two couples. Lyd had a generous Osso Bucco with Garlic Parmesan Mashed Potatoes, Roasted parsnips and carrots and a mushroom red wine veal sauce. I selected the Pan Seared Red Halibut with Sweet Potato Puree, Broccoli, crispy prosciutto and a crawfish cream sauce. I finished with a slice of Lemon Raspberry Cheesecake. In the evening, I attended, but did not participate in TV theme song trivia. At 2200, it’s 70 on Block Island, RI.
