British Meat Pies
Ingredients:
1/2 pound sausage
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 diced celery stalk
1 each diced carrot
1/2 cup mashed potatoes
salt and pepper
A can of refrigerated biscuit dough
a beaten egg.
Procedures:
Brown the sausage in a skillet with the onion, celery and carrot. Add the mashed potatoes, salt and pepper. Roll out the refrigerated biscuit dough and cut into twelve 3" rounds.
Top each with a spoonful of meat filling and fold in half; pinch to seal and brush with the beaten egg. Make slits in the top and bake at 350o until golden, about 15 minutes.
Notes:
2021-04-07: A good first attempt. The filling needed a little more spice, and more meat per pie. We rolled out Pillsbury biscuits. Next time, we’ll use parchment paper as the pies stuck to the baking sheet.
