February 13-18, 2011
We enjoyed the week of Lyd's 62nd birthday at Bay Lake Tower at Walt Disney World.

We were both up by 7 and decided today would be EPCOT. Waiting for the monorail at the Contemporary we spotted a young lady with the most elaborate fingernails we had ever seen. Well, she and her husband are newly weds at WDW on their honeymoon. They’re from a town near Tokyo and spoke little English. We, of course, speak no Japanese, but we had fun anyway. They had guide books in Japanese, so we were able to exchange ideas by pointing and smiling a lot. They were headed for Soarin’ so we suggested they follow us. When we arrived, the marquee suggested a wait time of 35 minutes though it was only 0922. Our new friends elected Fast Passes and we chose to brave the lines. We gave them a business card and they promised to email. Our decision to brave the line proved to be correct as the wait was only 5-10 minutes long. Since we were already on the ground floor of the Land, we chose the Living With The Land boat ride and walked right on with no wait. From there, it was not yet 1100 so World Showcase was not yet open. We selected Ellen’s Energy adventure. When we finished that, it was 1130 so we headed for World Showcase. We tried for lunch at Le Cellier at Canada, but they had nothing available. We have learned that, in March, Le Cellier will become a signature restaurant with a whole new rapidly changing and seasonal menu. We opted instead for the Rose and Crown where we had drinks and then, lunch.

We wandered back to the American Adventure which is always my favorite show. We’d hoped for the Voices of Liberty pre-show concert, but had to settle for a country-western group which is not really our style. I tried to make a video of the main show, but my storage card was full before the end of the show. From there, we went to Norway in search of sweaters, but the price tags were a bit too shocking for our budget. We took the pair of monorails back to the room. Just before 6, we went to the 2nd floor to check in at the podium for the California Grill.

The boat parade went through at 2220, but we had already gone to bed and didn’t watch it.
