California Grill

The California Grill is on the top floor of the Contemporary Hotel, adjacent to the Magic Kingdom. It is also adjacent to Bay Lake Tower, our Disney Vacation Club home at Walt Disney World. The cuisine is California (duh). Flatbreads and California wines dominate the menu, but sushi is the real attraction for Tom.

Over the years, we have made dozens of friends at the CG. It is our favorite restaurant among all the wonderful venues at Walt Disney World. We like to sit at Yoshie's sushi counter (space for 4), but one needn't order sushi to sit there. Many of our friends have moved to other Disney venues. Some have just "disappeared." Yoshie, known as "Mother" to the rest of the cast, was the chief sushi chef and a friend for years. She retired in February of 2013. Gary was our favorite Hawaiian server until his retirement in March of 2019.

Access to the "CG" is controlled. Although the restaurant is on the 15th floor, one can't just get on the elevator and punch 15! The check-in desk is on the 2nd floor. From there, they take you (private elevator) to the CG. We have certain "procedures" we use which will not be revealed here.
